Women's Initiative
The women attorneys of Leonard, Street and Deinard are leaders in law—and in life.
Today, there are thousands of women practicing law throughout Minnesota, but it wasn’t so long ago that there were virtually none. Our firm made history in 1953 when firm founder Ben Deinard invited attorney Irene Scott, whom he’d met when both were attorneys for the local transportation commission, to join the firm. She was the first woman partner at Leonard, Street and Deinard and the first at a major law firm in Minnesota.
She may not have realized it at the time, but Ms. Scott’s determination and persistence, along with the unwavering support of the firm’s founders, established a solid foundation for Leonard, Street and Deinard to blaze trails for women in the law in Minnesota.
The women attorneys of Leonard, Street and Deinard are known by many titles, professional and personal: shareholders and associates, board members, volunteers, spouses, mothers, daughters and friends. The common thread we share is a commitment to excellence in all we do and the desire to make a difference.
As attorneys, we thrive on collaborating with our colleagues to help our clients solve complex business challenges and grow successful business ventures.
As community members, we feel called to support the organizations and the people that make our neighborhoods great and to strengthen the fabric of our communities.
As family members, we take joy in sharing our lives with our parents and siblings, spouses and partners, children and friends.
As we balance these roles and so many more, we find ourselves on an exciting journey, both professionally and personally. We invite you to collaborate, share discussion and learn with us. Above all, we invite you to join us on this powerful journey…in law—and in life.
