For 15 years, a major focus of Leonard, Street and Deinard’s pro bono program has been to provide legal services to patients of the Community-University Health Care Center/Variety Children’s Clinic (CUHCC) in the Phillips neighborhood of south Minneapolis. Partnering with CUHCC, Leonard, Street and Deinard was the first major law firm in the nation to establish an independent dedicated legal clinic.

Our clients, primarily from the Phillips neighborhood, are underserved, vulnerable and economically disadvantaged. The uniqueness of the partnership is its combination of CUHCC’s culturally competent health care services and Leonard, Street and Deinard’s legal capabilities. In addition to providing legal services, the legal clinic has sought to educate people about their rights, the function of the legal system and the role of attorneys in protecting these rights.

We are proud to celebrate the 15th anniversary of this unique partnership with CUHCC and our service to its patients.
