Meloy provides leadership to the professional association and its members regarding electricity regulation and policy
MINNEAPOLIS (June 7, 2011)—Brian M. Meloy, a shareholder at Leonard, Street and Deinard, has been appointed Chair of the Electricity Regulation Committee of the Energy Bar Association.
The Energy Bar Association is the leading association of energy industry professionals in the United States and Canada. Its members include attorneys, non-attorney professionals and students. The EBA has over 2,600 members in the practice, administration and development of energy laws, regulations and policies.
In this rapidly changing era of energy regulation, the Electricity Regulation Committee seeks to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas concerning regulatory developments in the electric energy industry.
Meloy, a member of Leonard, Street and Deinard's Energy group practicing in Minneapolis and Washington, D.C., represents both public and private entities located throughout the United States in energy transactions and regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state utility commissions. Meloy counsels energy clients on issues related to regulatory compliance, ratemaking, market design, transmission access, generator interconnection and project development.
A focus of Meloy's FERC practice is representing electric utilities, electric power cooperatives, independent power producers and power marketers active in centralized energy markets throughout the United States. In the past year, Meloy has represented market participants in major initiatives at FERC relating to the markets administered by the California Independent System Operator Corporation, ISO New England, the New York Independent System Operator and the Midwest ISO.
