Leonard, Street and Deinard attorney Barbara Portwood has been named among the area's "Top Women in Finance" by Finance & Commerce. The business newspaper annually honors high-achieving women across the state in recognition of their outstanding efforts in, and notable contributions to, their professions, their communities and society at large.
All the Top Women in Finance honorees were recognized at a special reception at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis on November 10.
Portwood is highly regarded for her work with municipal entities, helping them achieve their financing and economic development goals, particularly in the areas of housing and commercial and industrial development.
Active in the Twin Cities legal and business community, Portwood serves as a board member for Artspace of America and previously served on the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Retention Committee, which seeks to cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion in the practice of law, and on the board of Women Winning. She was a 2010 recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
A longtime shareholder at Leonard, Street and Deinard, Portwood provides strategic leadership as a member of the firm's Board of Directors and Foundation. She also serves as chair of the firm's public finance practice group.
