New arrivals mark 12 attorney hires for the firm since the beginning of 2011

Leonard, Street and Deinard today announced that three new attorneys have joined the firm’s health law practice.

Sheva J. Sanders joins the firm as a shareholder, drawing upon more than 25 years of experience advising health care, medical device, pharmaceutical and life sciences clients in corporate and regulatory matters, including fraud and abuse, compliance, reimbursement and transactional matters. Sanders served as Medtronic’s principal senior legal counsel for health care-related regulatory and compliance matters. She teaches, speaks and writes extensively on topics related to health law and health policy. She earned her law degree from Northwestern University Law School and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

Rebekah W. Crosby joins the firm as staff attorney, where she will focus on counseling health care organizations through compliance, reimbursement and regulatory issues. With more than a decade of health care law experience, Crosby has advised medical device, pharmaceutical and managed-care companies, as well as health care providers, and she is experienced in the nonprofit sector, where she serves as a health care advocate for the Health Information and Advocacy Center at PACER, a national organization that provides services for families of children with special needs. Crosby is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association’s Forum on Health Law. Crosby is a graduate of Northwestern University Law School.

Ryan McGary joins the firm as an associate in the health law group, where he will assist clients with corporate and regulatory compliance matters, fraud and abuse laws, and transactional issues. McGary, a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, served as executive director of a nonprofit youth leadership organization and worked in government relations prior to starting his legal career. McGary is a volunteer with the Plymouth Youth Center in Plymouth, Minnesota, and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

Prior to joining Leonard, Street and Deinard, Sanders, Crosby and McGary were part of the health law team in the Minneapolis office of Lindquist & Vennum.

“We are delighted to welcome Sheva, Rebekah and Ryan to the firm,” said John Breviu, chair of the firm’s health law group. “The experience they bring will help us further broaden the services we provide our health industry clients, including some of the region’s premier health providers, insurers and medical device manufacturers.”

With the addition of these three attorneys, Leonard, Street and Deinard has hired 12 attorneys since the beginning of 2011, including two in securities and class action litigation, two in product liability, three in trusts and estate planning, and two in energy supporting the firm’s newly opened Bismarck, North Dakota, office.

“Our recent growth is in part a response to our clients’ evolving needs, but it also reflects our desire to remain nimble and opportunistic,” said Lowell Stortz, president of the firm. “It is exciting to be in a very focused period of growth.”
