Angela Bohmann, chair of Leonard, Street and Deinard's employee benefits and compensation practice group, was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC).
This elite group includes only two other employee benefits attorneys from the state of Minnesota. Among several other qualifications, ACEBC Fellows must:
- Demonstrate a sustained commitment to the development and pursuit of public awareness and understanding of the law of employee benefits.
- Consistently exhibit exemplary character and ethical behavior.
- Be recognized by his or her peers for experience in the field and intellectual excellence.
The ACEBC is dedicated to elevating the standards and advancing the public's understanding of the practice of employee benefits law. In pursuit of this goal, the ACEBC encourages the study and development of employee benefits laws, initiates professional discussions of significant employee benefits issues and sponsors an extensive list of continuing legal education programs.
In her more than 30 years of experience, Bohmann has assisted all types of employers with their benefit plans and arrangements. She works with public companies on their defined benefit pension plans and cash balance plans, as well as their executive compensation and equity plans. She works with privately held employers on retirement plans that are focused on benefits for owners as well as employees, and she has assisted nonprofit entities with the special types of benefits available to them, including 403(b) plans and 457 plans.
Bohmann has also advised employers on their COBRA, HIPAA and FMLA compliance, and is currently working with clients to comply with the new health care reform legislation. She has extensive experience with benefit plans in mergers and acquisitions, and is a frequent writer and lecturer on employee benefits topics.
