Affordable Housing
Related Practices
Our affordable housing practice area brings together our respected real estate, tax and banking and public finance groups. Clients in this include non-profit and for-profit developers, owners, banks and other lenders, tax-credit investors, municipalities and governmental agencies.
We have helped clients seeking to build or rehabilitate affordable multifamily rental housing, mixed-use and mixed income developments, and affordable for-sale housing, including cooperatives, condominiums and townhomes, using diverse tools such as tax-exempt and taxable multifamily housing revenue bonds, 501(c)(3) bonds, low income housing tax credits, HOME funds, FHA-insured loans, tax-increment financing, historic and new markets tax credits, CDBG funds, HUD financing, state and federal preservation programs, Section 8 subsidies, ground leases, state and local loan and grant sources, housing trusts, and the formation of nonprofit housing corporations. Projects on which we have worked have often addressed needs beyond basic housing, such as homelessness, chemical dependency and childcare.
Leonard, Street and Deinard has represented its clients on affordable housing projects in the Twin Cities, across greater Minnesota and in many other states.
