Leonard, Street and Deinard offers two summer programs especially designed to help first-year law students gain practical experience to enhance their legal studies and build a foundation for their legal careers.

The Leonard, Street and Deinard Focused Insights Institute is an intensive, short-term learning opportunity designed for law students who have just completed their first year of law school and are interested in practicing in Minnesota. Set in the vibrant, culturally rich city of Minneapolis, this unique program provides first- year law students:
- Legal learning experiences with exposure to our litigation and business practices
- Individual and team assignments using actual matters and pro bono cases
- Skill-building opportunities in legal research and writing with designated mentors and writing coaches
- Salary, housing and air travel
Students immerse themselves in the practice of law and collaborate with peers from other top law schools while gaining valuable insights into the legal profession from the associates and shareholders of Leonard, Street and Deinard.

At Leonard, Street and Deinard, we believe a balanced legal education combines academic instruction with professional development opportunities. Through our comprehensive Connections program, minority students can build a network of contacts, improve their knowledge of the legal profession and determine the type of practice and area of law that best suits their goals.
We are the only Twin Cities-based law firm to offer a comprehensive scholarship and professional development program to all four of Minnesota's law schools:
- Hamline University School of Law
- University of Minnesota Law School
- University of St. Thomas School of Law
- William Mitchell College of Law
Each Leonard, Street and Deinard Minority Scholar receives annual tuition assistance, partner and associate coaching, paid clerkship and a professional legal writing coach.
