Tom Osteraas practices in Leonard, Street and Deinard’s Corporate and Energy groups. Building on a variety of roles over his 20-year career, Tom brings broad experience to his client relationships, providing advice from both the in-house and outside counsel perspective. He has advised companies on a diverse assortment of corporate transactional and regulatory matters, and has particular knowledge and experience with all aspects of transactions involving energy infrastructure projects, from the development and permitting phase to the project financing and asset sale or acquisition phase.
Tom previously served as general counsel at Cogeneration Corporation of America and at Excelsior Energy Inc. He was also senior counsel at NRG Energy in the late 1990s, responsible for overseeing NRG’s European investment activities.
In private practice Tom has deep experience as a finance attorney, representing both lenders and borrowers in connection with traditional credit facilities as well as complex structured financings of receivables from a variety of asset classes.
Tom began his career as a member of the financial transactions group at Morrison & Foerster in Los Angeles and was also previously a partner in the banking group at what was then Faegre & Benson (now Faegre Baker Daniels) in Minneapolis.
