Rising Stars, Succession PlanningA shareholder in the firm’s Tax, Estate Planning, Probate and Trust practice group, Laura E. Krishnan is highly experienced in estate planning matters but, just as important, attuned to clients’ personal needs. A loved one’s passing is emotional and stressful; by listening to and understanding her clients goals, Laura clearly structures estate plans so that, during such a stressful time, her clients don’t need to expend energy worrying about estate administration matters. Instead, they can take the time they need to deal with the emotional toll of losing a loved one.
In addition to assisting her clients with their estate planning needs, Laura also helps them structure lifetime gifts, business succession plans, and antenuptial agreements. She regularly works with business owners to implement planning to transition the business to future generations. Laura also routinely represents clients in probate and trust administration matters, gift and estate tax filings and audits, and disputed probate and trust matters. She is often hired by clients to resolve disputes efficiently. She does this by working collaboratively, actively listening to clients, and understanding the real issues in dispute. As a result, she can craft unique resolutions.
Licensed in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arizona, her recent engagements have included:
- Assisting client in reforming trust to reduce estate tax liability in excess of $1million
- Resolving multiple multi-million dollar trust administration disputes without court intervention
- Assisting family business owners in the transition of the company to the next generation
- Implementing lifetime gifting strategies through the use of gift trusts, DIGITs, GRATs, Dynasty Trusts, QPRTs, GST Trusts, and charitable trusts
- Drafting complex estate plans
- Drafting Antenuptial Agreements
Laura has been repeatedly named among The Best Lawyers in America as well as being selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers®-Rising Stars. She was formerly an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law.
