Jim Bullard focuses his practice in the area of complex civil litigation. He has handled cases for business clients in many industries involving a wide range of commercial, financial and technical disputes. Many of his cases have involved (1) procedural complexities such as multiple parties, class action and derivative claims, and parallel criminal, regulatory and insurance coverage proceedings; (2) contentious and high-stakes claims of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, professional liability and enhanced damages; and (3) difficulties of proof such as lost or destroyed evidence, circumstantial claims and technical and scientific issues.

In many cases, Jim has assembled and managed teams of attorneys, scientists, engineers and other experts to bridge the science/law divide and achieve the client’s goals. He believes that the ability to work with experts, to handle technical and scientific evidence and to understand and explain complex concepts are critical to his success. Jim also believes that today’s rapidly changing business environment—involving new customers and markets, new products and technologies, new levels of government regulation, new theories of liability and, in particular, new issues of science and technology—will require businesses to cope with new levels of complexity in litigation.
