Federal Health Care Reform

As all of our clients know, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590) on March 23, 2010. The Senate and House are in the process of adopting an amendment package (the "reconciliation bill") negotiated by key leaders of the legislative bodies. This monumental piece of legislation will affect health care in every aspect – with changes applicable to health insurance companies, employers, providers and individuals. Many of the reforms will be phased in over the next four years, but some of the changes will be effective within the next six months.

We know our clients have many questions regarding the new law. Our health law and employee benefits attorneys are sifting through the thousands of pages of legislation and congressional committee reports, and are keeping tabs on all notable developments as Congress works through the reconciliation process. We will provide guidance regarding key features of health care reform as the details become final.
