In an announcement today from Speaker of the House Kurt Zellers to House members and staff, an adjournment date of April 30, 2012, was proposed for the upcoming Minnesota Legislative session. That's a full three weeks earlier than the May 21 date required by the state constitution. This schedule is tentative until the House and Senate agree on a final schedule.

Other proposed dates include:

• Legislative session convenes on January 24, 2012.
• Recess for precinct caucuses from February 2-7, 2012.
• Recess for Easter/Passover break from April 6-13, 2012.
